This is a a great unit for a mobile practice, clinic setting, or exotic veterinarian.
The software is the same for small and large animal. Just need to set it your studies.
The cable is ok. The tape in the picture is to protect the cable. Also I have a brand new cable that the unit will come with it. The unit is working great, the software need to be updated. You can take digital radiographs and see them in the unit within 3-5 seconds. To export images into a software you need to update the software.
